Exotics in India today spotted the luxury grand tourer developed by Mercedes-AMG division, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster. However, the roadster loses its trademark gullwing doors to the conventional doors and rag-roof.
Actually, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was developed by Mercedes-AMG division to replace the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was built in-house by AMG and described by Mercedes as a spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.
The SLS AMG Roadster is with the same genes of the SLS AMG Coupé but with character all of its own, it perfectly blends the strength of Mercedes-Benz and AMG.
The SLS AMG Roadster is equipped with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine which produces 563 horsepower at 479 pound-feet of torque, which is why it’s said “The world's most powerful series-production 8-cylinder aspirated engine”, this is same as the SLS AMG Coupé. Connected to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. According to the company the SLS AMG Roadster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 317 km/h.
