2011 Volvo S60 D5 spotted

How does one explain Elegance? Difficult, isn’t it? However, Exotics in India would say, take a look at the new Volvo S60. It symbolizes elegance - “beauty in motion”. The Volvo S60 is an executive sedan produced by Volvo. This beauty is the second generation of the Volvo S60, which was unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. This is the D5 type Volvo S60 which features a 5-cylinder 2.4-litre diesel engine, elegantly producing 202hp at 420 Nm. 

As a standard feature, it is equipped with the City Safety and Pedestrian Detection, which automatically apply brakes if a pedestrian is detected in front of the car and the driver does not react in time.  The S60’s design breaks the ground with its completely new design language that focuses on our younger generation, also keeping the high-income customer appeal. Right from the first generation, the Volvo S60 buyer has had a higher household income. According to Volvo, the new S60 is positioned against the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and the BMW 3-series. Volvo S60 features numerous safety options, making it worth every penny. With almost everyone keen on “Safety” inside and outside the car, this Swedish beauty just aces in this aspect.

Volvo XC60 Spotted

Spotted the Volvo XC60 at Bangalore, it just looks amazing and I do not give a second thought about its looks. Volvo XC60 is a compact crossover SUV and was first launched at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The stunning XC60 signals the onset of a new era of modern Scandinavian design.

I personally loved the Volvo brand for building vehicles which focused on its safety features. Volvo also leads the auto market in safety ratings on its product range.  

The XC60 includes traditional Volvo safety features including a whiplash protection system, side impact protection system, roll stability control, dynamic stability and traction control, inflatable curtain airbags, hill descent control (AWD only), collision warning with brake support, active bi-xenon lights (optional on some models), and patented front, side, and rear structures. The XC60 also introduced a new technology feature that Volvo has named City Safety (my most loved feature). City Safety collision avoidance technology is a Volvo world-first standard feature for safer urban driving. At speeds up to 30 km/h, this laser-based technology can sense if a vehicle in front within 6-8 meters is at a standstill or is moving slower. If City Safety senses an impending collision, the brakes are pre-charged to act faster on your response. And if you don't brake, City Safety automatically applies the brakes and switches off the throttle to help you avoid or mitigate a collision. City Safety is activated when you start the car, but can be switched off if you, for instance, are driving in deep snow.
