Audi R8 visual treat

You can either think that man made the machines or machines made man/men crazy, however, in both the ways the Audi’s supercar the R8 is a fascinating driving machine and a visual treat.

Visualizing one of the hardcore beasts on a Sunday was indeed a treat for Exotics in India, there were these guys who were clicking pictures of the Audi A4 with a modified front fascia and couple of feet ahead was the parked R8 which did not capture the eyes of the guys, instead we caught it.

The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car introduced by the German automaker Audi AG. The construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame and the platform used is of the Lamborghini Gallardo, another exclusive point is, the R8 is designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company.

The Audi R8 is equipped with a 4.2 litre V8 engine using Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), which displays 4,163CC. It develops a power output of 420 hp and generates 317 ft·lbf of torque. This is a highly reworked, high-revving variant of the existing 4.2 litre V8 engine, but includes cylinder-direct fuel injection (Fuel Stratified Injection), and four valves per cylinder, instead of five (as used on the previous non-FSI variants). The R8 is capable of sprinting to 100 km/h from standstill in a just 4.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 300 km/h.

Now, let’s take a look at the beast from all angles, the front face of the R8 makes you feel as if it is sitting wide and low like an aggressive beast ready to flex muscle and jump on its prey. You can also find the Audi four-ring badge embedded on the hood, above the grille, unlike it being on the grille (I like this!). Moving to the side view, the most attractive aspect of the R8 is its sideblades which sinks carbon fiber with the fuel lid positioned in it. You are yet to visualize the segment which puts the R8 to race, the V8 FSI engine, a sculptured piece of engineering visible both through the large, shield-shaped rear window and from inside the car.

Standard equipment on the R8 Coupe includes 19-inch wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, cruise control, automatic xenon headlights, LED running lights, automatic wipers, automatic climate control, heated 10-way power seats and many more.

The Audi R8 competes with Porsche 911 C4S, Mercedes-Benz SL 500, Maserati GranSport, Aston Martin 8 Vantage, Jaguar XKR.
