DC Design takes advantage of Delhi Auto Expo to showcase DC built India’s first sports car, the DC Avanti. The sports car comes with a price tag of Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). DC Design said it will start the production of the Avanti from 2013, with initial production of 300 units, with a promised increasing number in future.
Dilip Chhabria, DC Design Founder and Promoter said "We intend to produce 300 units of the Avanti in 2013-2014 and if all goes well, we could ramp up production to go into four figures per annum."
The car is powered by a Ford’s EcoBoost 2.0L 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine with Direct Injection and VVT and claims to be more powerful than the naturally aspirated 3L V6 engine with the help of DOHC and four valves per cylinder. The car is capable of sending a power of 240 BHP @ 5500 RPM and 270 lb/ft of torque @ 3500 RPM.
The ceremony of unveiling the first sports car built in India was by the bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. The car would be manufactured at the DC Design facility at Talegaon, near Pune.
The car has had an immense response from the crowd gathered at the hall who witnessed the launch, all is well until now and we just hope that Avanti creates sparks in India.
