Butler Tire Shows off a Range Rover Evoque

Land Rover Evoque with 22in Lexani CVX44 Wheels

The guys at Butler Tire released photos of a Range Rover Evoque... and other than the Victoria Beckham edition, this is the first one I've seen sitting on aftermarket wheels. Butler Tire outfitted this Evoque with 22 inch Lexani CVX44 Wheels.

This looks cute, although the Evoque is just a little small for me... and not enough horsepower. It has less than my Envoy, and I can't work with that.

Bernie’s Favorite: Victoria Beckham and the new “Posh” Range Rover Evoque

(Photo: Land Rover)

Victoria Beckham teamed up with Range Rover and finally unveiled the special edition Range Rover Evoque in Bejing, China. Borrowing style hues from her husband, David, this particular limited edition Evoque is as equally stylish as she is.

I said that Victoria borrowed the design aspect from David because she did say that “I wanted to design a car David and I would want to drive. I want everyone who gets in to feel special.” Also, the customization specs equal to what David has done to his vehicles in the past (i.e. The Porsche 911 and Rolls Royce Phantom).

The customization specs goes as follows: the first-ever Land Rover to feature hand-finished matte paint – offset by Santorini gloss black details and special 20-inch gloss-black forged alloy wheels with rose-gold accents. There’s also a rose-gold plated grille surround and badging.

Inside, Land Rover Spices it up with semi-aniline leather seats, door inserts and armrests and, yes, more rose-gold accents. The look is complemented with black lacquered veneers, textured aluminum and soft-feel black finishes.
Basically it’s matte black paint, with black wheels, and a black interior.

Vanity Fair Magazine was lucky enough to sit down with Victoria and asked her a few questions about cars.

Why is the Range Rover Evoque the right choice for a Victoria Beckham special edition?
Victoria Beckham: I’ve driven a Range Rover for as long as I can remember, and I have a lot of respect for Range Rover as a brand and for their heritage. So I think it feels very natural. I think that people will look at the car, and they’ll obviously see Range Rover, but they’ll also see me. It looks like me. I joked the other day—I had a matte-black crocodile structured handbag with me, and I looked at the bag and I looked at the car, and I said, “The car looks like a bag on wheels.” It’s very me. It’s very, very me.

One of the ways that we can chart the various stages in a person’s life is through their cars. So tell me about your cars. What was your first car?
My first-ever car, my parents bought me a red Fiat Uno. I was 17 and just so happy to have a car, so I was very fortunate that my parents were in a position to get me one—it was a secondhand car, but I was just so happy to have it. And my mum, to make it extra special for me, sprayed the hubcaps red.
And what do you drive now?
I drive a Range Rover Sport. I love things that look great, but I love the practicality as well. I’ve got four kids. [Brooklyn, 13; Romeo, 9; Cruz, 7; Harper, 9 months.] I’ve got to put a stroller in the back of my car. I drive my kids to school every day; I drive everywhere. I love my Range Rover. But David’s trying to make me sell my Range Rover.

Each of the limited run of 200, English-made, four-wheel-drive coupes will cost around $90,000, and sadly, only 5 will be sold in the US.

I love it. Now I’m just waiting for Kimora Lee Simmons to come out with a special edition vehicle.

Range Rover Evoque’s 103rd Crown: World Design Car of the Year

The Range Rover Evoque has truly all the qualities to reach this milestone in this young age, the performer is merely a year old and takes automotive enthusiasts across the globe on a twist with its design and performance.

At the 2012 New York International Auto Show Evoque was crowned the World Design Car of the Year 2012. The announcement sees Evoque's awards tally reach more than 100 global accolades.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director said: "We are honoured that the Range Rover Evoque has been names 2012 World Design Car of the Year. This prestigious accolade recognizes the overwhelmingly positive response that we have received to the Evoque's bold and dramatic design. It is a car that truly resonates on an emotional level."

The Evoque was shortlisted from an original 46 nominations and beat off stiff competition from the two other finalists - the Citroen DS5 and the Volkswagen Up!

A design panel of five highly respected world design experts decided on the shortlist, which was then voted on by each of the 66 World Car Jurors. The jurors are all highly respected, top-level automotive journalists and come from 25 separate countries.

One of the five panel expert was Silvia Baruffaldi, Managing Editor of Auto & Design magazine, who said: "True to the concept car it derives from, it is a contemporary automotive design masterpiece. Besides not having equals on the markets, it is able to deliver the Land Rover DNA in a more compact, sporty bodystyle. A premium product without the bad habit of showing off."

JLR launches Range Rover Evoque in India

India sees back-to-back launches with the all new Range Rover Evoque introduced in India at Jaguar land Rover corporate showroom in Mumbai. A Range Rover with an altogether different spirit. The Range Rover Evoque is the most exciting vehicle in a generation which combines boldness and design sophistication and with clever technology that’s innovative, relevant and always intuitive to use.

The Evoque presents two powerful engines:

2.0 litre Si4 petrol engine (3-door Coupe)
The Si4 petrol engine is a 2.0 litre engine in a lightweight all-aluminium unit with the latest direct injection technology, advanced turbocharging and twin independent variable valve timing. The engine is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission that has been engineered to improve fuel economy and that features Drive Select, an advanced rotary gearshift with steering wheel mounted paddle controls.

2.2 litre SD4 turbo diesel engine (5-door)
The latest 2.2 litre turbo diesel delivers superb torque, responsive performance and impressive refinement. The engine provides power on demand, a very broad torque curve.

Range Rover Evoque gives out the best performance and capability in both on and off-road conditions. How does the Evoque manage to do this? It does this by employing a suite of innovative technologies developed by the company including Terrain Response, which adapts Range Rover Evoque’s engine, transmission and electronic systems to maximize drivability, comfort and traction. This on and off roader uses four Terrain Response settings: General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud & Ruts and Sand to keep the vehicle alive at all conditions.

The Range Rover Evoque is available in three distinct derivatives: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic – each one offering a tempting array of choices and technology.

Pure
The purest expression of the Range Rover Evoque design form and intent.

Prestige
The ultimate in Range Rover Evoque luxury with an exterior that offers excitement and an interior that is sheer indulgence.

Dynamic
The boldest expression of Range Rover Evoque with sports interior themes and daring gloss black detailing.

Nothing else looks like it, feels like it, or drives like it. In fact, Range Rover Evoque is a quantum leap in the evolution of Range Rover.

New Range Rover Evoque will set you back $45,000...

The good folks at Range Rover released the official statement that the brand new 2012 Range Rover Evoque will have the starting price of $44,000 for the five door vehicle, and $45,000 for the coupe. Both prices include destination and delivery.

Range Rover states that the Evoque achieves 28 MPG EPA highway and 19 MPG EPA city. This excellent fuel economy is the result of new efficiency technologies, lightweight materials, and environmentally conscious design.

This vehicle will be sold in 160 countries worldwide with North American deliveries beginning in Fall 2011.

I like the Evoque more than the Range Rover Sport, but I know that the specs don't compare. If I could create an Evoque to have the power that the Sport has, then we can talk... But the odds of that would be slim to none.
