BMW 1 series GT getting ready 2014

If reports are to be believed, BMW is developing a 1 Series Gran Turismo for 2014, which will be built on BMW’s new front-wheel drive UKL1 platform. The platform will be used on all upcoming BMW 1 Series models, including a hatch, coupe and convertible.

The BMW 1-Series Gran Turismo sedan will bring a body shape that mixes elements from both hatchbacks and wagons in a package that’s more presentable than either one.

The platform will use a front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive layout; this has already has garnered rumors that BMW will come up with a sub-station wagon-road a little more than the MINI Countryman down the track. The platform will also be used in future models of the MINI and will include MacPherson front suspension and rack set Z-axis design BMW, on the back.

As for the GT version, the German car manufacturer will be aiming at taking sales away from the popular Audi A3 Sportback. The GT will feature a large rear than a conventional hatch, added with the practicality of the wagon-like rear seats.

The 2014 BMW 1 Series will raise the current 1-series from its entry-level positions, while the 1-series, as we know it today will be the BMW 2 Series, according to reports.
