The Bentley Continental R Spotted

Bentley Continental R
British automobile manufacturer, Bentley, is well known for building cars with utmost luxury. At one point of time, it was part of the Rolls-Royce ownership and had undergone its worst period in its history. In 1991, the Bentley Continental R was the first Bentley car to have its own dedicated body, and was not a Rolls-Royce twin. The Bentley Continental R was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1991 and was followed up with production in the following year. It also holds the distinction of being the on-site show car that was purchased by the Sultan of Brunei.

The Bentley Continental R is a large, expensive, luxury coupé and was the first to use the GM 4L80-E transmission. It was also the quickest, most expensive and the most powerful Bentley of its day.

The Continental R is equipped with a 6.75-litre Garrett-turbocharged engine from the Bentley Turbo R. It produces an enormous 325 hp (242 kW) and a torque of 450 ft·lbf (610 N·m). Top speed was 233km/h as estimated. The interior had a rich wood finish and several luxury amenities at the time.

The Bentley Continental R was considered to be the ultimate symbol of dynamics, with a heady mix of luxury and power. It reflected the royalty received by a Bentley customer.
