I hope they bring this to SEMA which is just around the corner...
Rockford Corporation Announces New Patent For Constant Power Technology
Rockford Corporation recently received patent 7,994,857, issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Aug. 9, 2011. Invented by Rockford Engineers Mark Albers, James Strickland and David Baker, the “Dynamic Constant Power Amplifier” patent allows Rockford to create amplifiers that deliver maximum power for a range of speaker impedances.
“Rockford’s ‘Dynamic Constant Power Amplifier’ patent once again shows we’re at the forefront of the car audio industry,” noted Bill Jackson, president of Rockford Corporation. “Our new patent enables us to build a high-efficiency audio amplifier that automatically delivers maximum rated power into a wide range of speaker impedances. This technology solves an age-old problem that has persisted since the earliest days of audio: how to match a speaker to an amplifier and be assured you’re getting maximum power delivery.”
Through the use of proprietary electronics, Rockford’s Constant Power technology automatically eliminates the inflexible speaker impedance-matching requirements of existing amplifier technology.
“There are no knobs to adjust, switches to set, calibration processes, test signals or additional wire harnesses of any kind,” explained Jake Braaten, director of product development at Rockford Fosgate. “The speakers are connected to the amplifier as normal, and as the music plays, the patented Constant Power circuitry automatically adapts to the wide range of nominal and frequency-dependent impedances. Any type of speaker may be used.”
For example, Rockford’s T1000-4ad four-channel amplifier automatically delivers 250W per channel to speakers with an impedance between 1 ohm to 4 ohms, when the audio signal demands it.
A similarly rated conventional amplifier typically only achieves 250W when a 1 ohm speaker is used. They are also known to deliver much less power at higher impedances.
“Mobile audio enthusiasts often go through the time and expense of installing powerful amplifiers and speakers in their cars to make it louder,” added Theresa Hephner, senior director of product development and marketing for Rockford Corporation. “To these high decibel fanatics, the perceived value of an amplifier is almost directly related to how much power it can deliver to the speaker. In this respect, the introduction of our ‘Constant Power’ amplifiers gives our dealers, install technicians and customers unprecedented convenience, value and performance.”
You'se gotta see this: Four year old girl driving...
I was about 17 years old when I first got behind the wheel of a car (I grew up in NY). In most households (more so in the midwest and south), some kids get behind the wheel when they're under 13 years old. But in China, the parents of this four year old girl allowed her to drive... and there were other cars on the road. Check this out...
Her driving skills are better than those of an adult age....

Aston Martin Rapide Spotted

| Aston Martin Rapide in Bangalore |
Thursday morning, I found myself waiting on the road (a few kilometers from my place) for my friend who was 20 minutes way too late! I am not the kind to wait (Thanks Param) and so I paced up and down with frustration filling my head. I’m guessing the clock struck upon a holy hour because a miracle appeared before my eyes! It was an angel – yes an angel with a beautiful body that flew past me! It wasn’t Gabriel – it was the Aston Martin Rapide! Shocker of my life – the good kind of course!
Why? For starters, Aston Martin is a brand that has always lured me with its power, beauty and soul. It’s a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars and has been building the finest sports cars in the world for more than a century. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, says the Aston Martin Rapide is the only true four-door sports car in the world.
The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door, high-performance sporty saloon which was launched in 2010. The production version of the Rapide was flaunted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Rapide is a marvel just like its siblings! It is very hard to believe that it’s not a two-door coupe from some angles.
The marvel is powered by the famous hand-built Aston Martin 6.0-litre V12 engine which can churn 470bhp at 443 lbf·ft of torque. This superhero also exhilarates from 0-100 km/h in less than 5 seconds to hit a top speed of 303 km/h. It goes without saying the car will compete with vehicles like the Porsche Panamera which showcases 500bhp. However, power isn’t the only attribute under the microscope, let’s examine other fiery facts! The Rapide is one of the most expensive and exclusive luxury sports sedans on the market, with standard features that include a Bang & Olufsen Beosound audio system, heated memory seats and Aston Martin's Adaptive Damping System.
So we’ve examined its external beauty – let’s take a look at its inner beauty (prepare to be amazed!). Park yourself into any of the comfy four full-grain leather seats and take a look around. Your eyes will widen at the tasteful Walnut dash trim along with Iridium Silver and Graphite metallic accents! You will also find a specifically tuned six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission that allows the driver to change gears automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles. The four-door miracle even comes with the optional Piano Black fascia trim, red stitching on the seats and a rear seat entertainment system with a 6-Disc DVD player and wireless headphones. You can seat four of your friend (but trust me there is no room for complaints in this classy cockpit!)
Miracles are priceless, considering that this one can be purchased for 2-3 Crores to accommodate you and your family – makes it worth every penny!

BMW S1000RR
BMW Motorrad’s S 1000 RR has won The International Bike of The Year award 2010-2011!
If you’re not applauding and wondering how this happened? Let me explain. Along with the BMW R 1200 GS there was another exotic bike standing in line and reeling in the interest of the audience - the BMW S 1000 RR.
In 2009, BMW rolled out 1000 models to satisfy the homologation requirements of World Superbike. The S 1000 R proved its superbike abilities and ventured into commercial sales in 2010.
The BMW S 1000 RR pumps 149bhp using a 999 CC inline-4 engine redlined at 14,200 rpm. This beauty is BMW’s thunderbolt because it can hit top speed of 305kmph easily and surge from 0-100 in just 3.1 seconds!
The BMW S 1000 RR presents the very latest in racing power. With an aluminium bridge, radial brakes, a super sporty tail-up nose-down design, hot colours and the ultimate combination of electronic rider assistance systems: the first genuine racing ABS, whose features include a front-wheel-only mode, dynamic traction control (DTC) which permits varying degrees of slip, depending on the lean angle. Never before was it so easy to keep so much power under control.
The S 1000 RR represents a milestone in electronic rider safety: ultra-lightweight ABS (2.5kg), which can be used in conjunction with the extremely efficient DTC (available as an optional extra), can be switched off at any time. It also features radially mounted Brembo brake calipers. The front design of this beauty is intelligently positioned to optimize air-flow around rider and ensures stability at top speed. Impressed aren’t you? Go ahead - you can give the bike a standing ovation now.
