CEC Wheels Talks Mercedes CL65 AMG and Shows off the C883 Wheels

Beverly Hills' own, CEC Wheels, sat down and discussed what makes the Mercedes Benz CL65 AMG so great, as well as why their C883 wheel is the perfect compliment.

Starting at $59,500 more than the CL63, the CL65 is one of the most powerful CL-Class ever offered. Compared to the CL63 with a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine generating 536hp and 590lb-ft of torque, the hand crafted engine of the CL65 AMG 6.0L twin-turbo V12 engine generates an impressive 621hp and 738lb-ft of peak torque.

CEC Wheels explains the difference between forged and cast wheels.

CEC Wheels released an article that was interesting and informing. CEC was kind enough to post a quick article about the construction methods of both casting and forging aluminum wheels.

"The casting process involves pouring or injecting molten aluminum into a mold containing a cavity with the desired shape of the wheel. This allows for greater design flexibility and higher production volume compared to a forged wheel. Until recently, most wheels have been gravity cast (heavier and thicker). Today, low pressure casting techniques are used to substantially reduce porosity and mass. Cast wheels are generally designed larger and heavier in order to achieve acceptable load rating for a given application."

"CEC Forged wheels are manufactured in multiple steps compared to the one step in the casting process. Forged wheels have greater structural integrity and less mass, and usually cost substantially more than cast wheels due to the multiple processes and complicated machinery involved. While forged wheels are typically reserved for high performance vehicles where the reduction in rotating mass and unsprung weight is desired to increase performance, our CEC Forged wheels are built to order for nearly any vehicle."

Remember, you learn somrthing new everyday, and thanks to CEC Wheels, I developed another wrinkle in my brain.

CEC Wheels and Their C883 Wheels

CEC Wheels released shots of their interchangable wheels that compliment any SUV or CUV- the C883 wheel. Influenced by the c883 forged and its attractive split seven spoke styling and light weight design, the c883 SUV brings the unmatched class and luxury to the truck and SUV market. CEC was kind enough to display the wheels on several SUVs- the Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, and a Supercharged Range Rover.

The way that CEC presented these wheels, it gives the vehicle a cleaner look. It's still customized, but it's done to where the average person would think that it was still factory. Not everyone wants the 26 inch wheels on their SUV (Well, 26s can't fit on my Envoy, and it would look dumb as all hell if I tried).

CEC Wheels Shows Off an Audi A8

Deep in the heart of Los Angeles (or Beverly Hills) lies CEC Wheels, where they just released photos of an Audi A8 that they have the extreme pleasure of customizing. You guys forgot already, CEC doesn't just sell wheels. They do customizations as well. Don't let the zip code fool you.

According to CEC, they started by taking the bold and sophisticated styling of the 20” c882 wheels and painted the face to color match the gloss black color of the car. Then they customized the break calipers by painting the Audi logo over a red background.

The wheels and brakes are not the only things customized on this vehicle. All of the original chrome detailing on the body of the Audi A8 was painted in a gunmetal finish to match the appearance of the wheels. This whole treatment seamlessly combines the elegance of the Audi with the concave profile of the c882 20” wheels.

CEC Wheels shows off a Ferrari 458 Italia

CEC Wheels just released shots of a Ferrari 458 Italia. According to CEC Wheels, the Ferrari is outfitted with lightweight forged Motegi Racing wheels. Motegi Racing developed this wheel specifically for GT cars. The GT racing version of this wheel is offered for center-lock applications which you can only find on the most competitive Ferrari GT cars.

CEC is proud to introduce the street version of this super lightweight forged alloy wheel on the Ferrari 458 Italia. With 9x21" front (Pirelli P Zero 255/30ZR21) and 12x22" rear (Pirelli P Zero 335/25ZR22) sizing, the 458's stance is greatly improved giving you street-credibility with an authentic racing wheel.

CEC Wheels' SEMA Recap

CEC Wheels released their SEMA recap, giving more details about specific wheels and how it compliments the car that's wearing them. I actually stopped by their booth and took a few photos, but I didn't have the opportunity to speak with someone. That's how popular their booth was. Maybe next year...

The star of the booth was Fisker Reserve by CEC tuning program for the Fisker Karma, making its North American debut. The Reserve by CEC package, as exhibited on a stunning pearlescent white Karma, combined an aggressive yet stylish aerodynamic package with exclusive, lightweight 22” staggered forged wheels finished in an exquisite matte white/matte machined finish. The Reserve styling options were tasteful and complemented the car's already dramatic styling perfectly. The white Karma gleamed on stage while surrounded by four additional show cars, all draped in contrasting black. The overall effect offered by this contrast was dramatic and left a lasting impression.

CEC was proud to unveil the World Premiere of the ACS6 by AC Schnitzer based on the 2012 BMW 650i Coupe at SEMA 2011. This beautiful work-of-art illustrated the attention to detail that only a tuner like AC Schnitzer can appoint. The subtle craftsmanship was appreciated and very well received by show goers. The ACS6 sat on 21” ACS Type VIII Forged wheels with 21" Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires also donning front and rear ACS spoilers. The car also featured the ACS exhaust system and the chrome front grill treatment.



CEC is renown for making premium light alloy wheels and this is made apparent by the other three cars on display. These cars were outfitted only with CEC wheels, showing the dramatic distinction the right set of wheels can make on a car. CEC showcased a new 2012 Bentley GT Mulliner fitted on one side with our 21” CEC C883 Forged Italian wheels, utilizing the factory tires. On the other side was a more aggressive setup showcasing our 22” CEC C881 wheel in the matte black/machined finish.

The next car was a 2012 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid with our new for 2012 CEC C883 SUV wheel, sized 22"x10", wrapped in 295/30-22 Michelin Diamaris rubber . We chose to show the C883 on both sides of the Cayenne, featuring two different finishes, matte black/machined and our cutting edge, trend setting Magic Black/machined finish. Magic Black looks and feels like black chrome, but is actually a very special paint process, combined with diamond-cut, machined face lines, creating a unique and brilliant finish that is more durable than chrome. It looks amazing and is best appreciated in person.

The final car featured in the CEC booth was a 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG with 20" staggered CEC C883 in matte black/machined on one side and 20” staggered c882 in matte gunmetal/machined on the other. Both sides were outfitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires in 255/30-20 and 295/25-20 sizing. The unique finishes complemented this car nicely and all agreed that this CLS looked phenomenal with nothing more than a wheel and tire upgrade.

It always helps when companies bring cars to show how their products look on a vehicle.

CEC Wheels on Ice Loves Coco and the CoCo Edition Car

Don't judge me, but I do watch reality shows. Not shows like the Bachelor or Survivor, but like Jerseylicious and Girls Next Door. Sundays at 10:30 on E is the time slot for the show Ice Loves Coco, starring Ice T and his wife, Nicole "Coco" Austin.

Sunday's episode had to do with Ice and Coco renewing their vows after 10 years of marriage, and they did it in LA. A portion of the show had to do with CEC Wheel Company because Ice's son, b.k.a. Lil' Ice happens to work for CEC Wheels in LA.



As a 10 year gift to celebrate their marriage, Ice decides to purchase a White 2011 Rolls Royce Ghost sitting on 22" CEC Wheels for himself and Coco. I wish E had some clips, so this clip of Ice T showing off the car was as best as I can do.



Aside from the Rolls Royce Ghost, they do own several cars like an Aston Martin, a Bentley Continental GT (breakdown coming soon), and Coco's "Coco Edition" Cadillac CTS that she's commonly photographed with.

Dubbed "The CoCo Edition", her Cadillac CTS is subtly customized with a body kit, chrome accents, the Coco Edition badging, White aftermarket wheels with chrome inserts, etc. I'm not sure about the interior seeing how I haven't exactly seen it, but all in all it looks great.
