Scott Disick SELLS Chrome Audi R8

A long long time ago (I'm being completely sarcastic), Scott Disick purchased an Audi R8 and had it chromed out. After having it for roughly 6 weeks, he's selling it on ebay.

According to Scott's friends at Calabasas Luxury Motorcars, this 2008 (so he buys his vehicles gently used) Audi R8 is for sale. Perks include: only 6,200 miles, it has a chrome wrap to it with the original color being black, black interior, 20 inch Forgiato Freddo - M Wheels, carbon style wrapped roof, rear decklid, mirror and blades, and more.

And Calabasas Luxury Motorcars beat me to the punch by saying "No dreamers, serious buyers only." Naturally they said it nicer than I could ever say it. If you have enough to purchase it (and own it longer than Scott), contact Roy at 866-980-8263

Let's be real, Calabasas Luxury Motorcars has the best commercial out. The commercial I'm referring to is called Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Yaaay!!! LA Cops Seizes Will.I.Am's Ugly DeLorean

For the first time EVER, Los Angeles Police Department have done something right. Earlier this year, Will.I.Am had the stupid idea to start an automotive company that produces ugly vehicles like the one pictured above. Anyone with vision can see that this is one ugly car.

So a few days ago, Will.I.Am is driving around LA and he gets stopped. Cop asked for license and registration, and he could only produce one out of two of those items. It turns out that he couldn't provide plates, registration, or even a VIN for the car. Ipso facto, it was extremely illegal to drive. AND... authorities did a little research and found out the parts on the custom car haven't been registered for about 10 years. If LAPD is smart, they would drop it off at a chop shop and keep it moving. But LA doesn't have a mafia presence (only gangs), so there goes that idea.

P.S. Hey LAPD, could you be nice and give him back the Beats by Dre speakers? That's the only great thing about the car.

CEC Wheels Talks Mercedes CL65 AMG and Shows off the C883 Wheels

Beverly Hills' own, CEC Wheels, sat down and discussed what makes the Mercedes Benz CL65 AMG so great, as well as why their C883 wheel is the perfect compliment.

Starting at $59,500 more than the CL63, the CL65 is one of the most powerful CL-Class ever offered. Compared to the CL63 with a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine generating 536hp and 590lb-ft of torque, the hand crafted engine of the CL65 AMG 6.0L twin-turbo V12 engine generates an impressive 621hp and 738lb-ft of peak torque.

In a stunning Mercedes Benz Designo Magno Alanite Matte finish, the c883 Forged in Anthracite/Machined finish is the perfect compliment for the CL65. The attractive split 7-spoke design of the 21” staggered c883 Forged formulates a sleek combination to accentuate the details of the CL65.

The c883 Forged is built to order for many unique fitments and is available in finishes including Matte Black/Machined and Anthracite/Machined finishes. Available sizing includes 19”, 20”, 21”, and 22” and widths ranging from 8.5” and 13”.

Personally, I like the CL because of the body. It's not as bulky as the S Class, nor is it miniscule like the SL class. I really can't stand the SL class.

Mister Cartoon talks about the Customization of the Armored Truck

Many moons ago, Sony reached out to Mister Cartoon about customizing a Armered truck for their movie Armor. Skee.TV was extremely lucky to have behind the scenes access to the process of Mister Cartoon and crew designing, delivering, painting, and creating the custom vehicle. Check out the photos and the video...

I loved how they were able to recreate their sketches freehandly.

Bernie's Recommendation: Cruisin' Califas at the Oceanside Museum of Art

So while pulling my weave out looking for something to post, I came across something interesting. Another side to me is that I do love going to museums, and quite often, museums do have exhibits dedicated to automobiles. Halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, lies a city called Oceanside, and within that city is a gem called the Oceanside Museum of Art (or OMA). OMA realized how important Lowriding is to Los Angeles culture (side note: even I knew that, and I'm New York to the heart) and how LA is the Lowrider Capital of the World. This past weekend was the opening weekend to Cruisin' Califas: The Art of Lowriding, the exhibit that's dedicated to art of lowriders.

According to the Oceanside Museum of Art,
"The title of the exhibition, Cruisin’ Califas, refers to Lowrider culture in California and the favorite pastime of the Lowrider – cruising! Califas is a slang term that refers to California amongst the Latino culture with roots that going back to the mythological land of Calafia that inspired the naming of California. Largely associated with the rise of the automobile industry and the post WWII manufacturing boom, Lowriders became a popular way for people, mostly without the means to purchase a brand new car, to express their individuality and cultural pride. Lowrider describes a car that is customized with a hydraulic setup to be low to the ground, with an elaborate paint job that often includes pin striping and lettering, with striking chrome features, and uniquely designed upholstery. Classic cars such as Chevrolet Impalas and Master Deluxes are often associated with this culture, but today, any type of vehicle can be transformed into a Lowrider, from motorcycles to bicycles, SUV’s and tricycles. Reaching farther then cars; this phenomenon has become a way of life for many people, influencing the style of the artists involved in this exhibition."

And you know that artwork of Estevan Oriol and Jae Bueno will be a part of the collection... Thank God. I said Thank God, because to have a collection about Lowriders and not feature the work of Oriol- whose body of work is greatly influenced by Los Angeles culture and Bueno- the one person whose work you can count on seeing in Lowrider Magazine and who shoots Car Shows in the Southwestern Part of the US. I honestly think Jae Bueno has photographed every lowrider that is in the Southwest. And you have to respect the both of them, and I tip my NY Yankees hat to them.

This exhibit will be at the museum from May 13 - September 30, 2012, so hopefully, HOPEFULLY, I will make it to LA to see this. But if you live in LA or San Diego and love lowriders-- or cars in general, haul ass down the 5, and get there. Because you may know a lot about Lowriders, but I'm sure you can learn something at this exhibit.

The photo above is the prime example why I respect Lowriders so much. I did not personally know the owner of this vehicle, but I understand that he's in a much better place and isn't suffering (Bernie doesn't deal with death well). I've said this plenty, plenty of times on this site. The main reason why I respect Lowriders simply because of the attention of detail that the owners put into their car. The engraving is serious. And since I do have a design background, I can and do appreciate that level of intricate detail. No matter how hard you try, you can't throw together a Lowrider- it takes serious thought.

I'm still getting a Lowrider Plaque that says Bernie and I want Estevan Oriol to photograph me with it. My mind works fast and while typing this, I just came up with the photo shoot.

P.S. My favorite museum of all time is the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and I do think that the High Museum of Art in Atlanta is not a real museum. The High Museum sucks.

Update: Scott Disick's Chrome Audi R8

Scott Disick is the only one in the Kardashian Klan who is brave enough to battle Kim on who has the best cars. About two days ago, Kim tweeted "Who needs a mirror when I'm driving Scott Disick's car." Accompanying this tweet was this following photo...

The guys at Forgiato did a little digging and found some more photos and info about the car. Scott took the car to Calabasas Luxury Motorcars and changed the color to chrome and added Forgiato Monoleggera Freddo-M 20 inch wheels finished in all gloss black.

This is more of an attention grabber than the Rolls Royce. Now I'm wondering what Scott will pick for his next car. I'm sure he'll buy another car before the birth of his next child.

Update: He's selling the car.

Sanctiond Automotive talks with Platinum Motorsports

(You know the Keshishyan Brothers have the best photos of themselves on their site)

LA Native and Photography great Estevan Oriol shot an incredible video about "the Neiman Marcus of Car Customization Shops", Platinum Motorsports. He shot the Keshishyan brothers (George and Jack) and discussed how they acquired the business from their father and turned it into a powerhouse, their work ethic, and the work that comes out of the shop. Either way, it was a great look, even better than whatever articles that's been printed out about them.

Check out the video and see for yourself.

Even though they had a leg up in the business (meaning: the business was given to them by their father), you have to admit, they did turn it into something far greater than what the business originally was. Anytime you can do that, you have to give them respect.

P.S. You know Estevan Oriol does great work. He reminds me of Hype Williams- meaning the video he produces will have that same uber high quality like his photography. With Hype, his movie Belly looks just like his music videos.

Just when Justin Bieber is doing so well...

He does something to set him back. I admit, I liked the Cadillac, Range Rover, and the Fisker Karma, however, the Smart Car...

(Photo: X17 Online)

I mean, most cars look good with matte paint/wrap on them, but not all. Anyhow, Young Bieber was out and about in Los Angeles, and was photographed driving a glorified golf cart. According to Smart USA Insider, the following customizations have been done: Custom Matte Black Paint Job, Kuhl FX Body Kit, Side Air Scoop by Panimex, LED Driving Lights by S-Mann, Blacked out BRABUS like Headlights, Custom Lowering Springs, Custom Wheels and Continental Tires, Turbo Kit Upgrade, Custom Interior, Custom Sound System, and much more...

And I'm pretty sure that West Coast Customs did the custom work. But the Biebs really killed the moment by dubbing it the Swag Car.

I'm sorry, but I can't take the Smart Car seriously. It has 71 horsepower. Hence it's a glorified golf cart. At least a Fiat can hold four people. I really wish he would have gotten a Fiat.

Mr Cartoon talks LA Car Culture with Rob Kardashian

The guys at Sanctiond Car Care (Mister Cartoon and 'em) released a video about Rob Kardashian as he talks about LA Car Culture. He talks other stuff as well, but we're only touching on the car aspect. But I do love tattoos as much as the next person, seeing how I have a Yankees one. Watch the video, and I'll give my usual feedback.

I was pulling for Rob Kardashian. He starts out by saying he loves old school cars, and kind of gave an insight about what he loves about Los Angeles Car Culture, and I respected him for it. Rob continues by saying that Bruce (his step dad) gave each of his genetic sons an old-school car which they had to restore themselves (more respect). Then you see Rob hauling down the street in an Oldsmobile that's the same age as I am. And I'm thinking "Uh Oh, he might actually know a thing or two about Los Angeles Car Culture". But the moment was shot and killed when you see Rob speeding down the street in a white Porsche Panamera, which has nothing to do with Lowriders.

He made it so close, but yet so far.

Of course the video looked great- because it was shot by Estevan Oriol and thankfully he gave it that Southern California feel.

I still think Khloe has more street-cred than Rob.

CEC Wheels Shows Off an Audi A8

Deep in the heart of Los Angeles (or Beverly Hills) lies CEC Wheels, where they just released photos of an Audi A8 that they have the extreme pleasure of customizing. You guys forgot already, CEC doesn't just sell wheels. They do customizations as well. Don't let the zip code fool you.

According to CEC, they started by taking the bold and sophisticated styling of the 20” c882 wheels and painted the face to color match the gloss black color of the car. Then they customized the break calipers by painting the Audi logo over a red background.

The wheels and brakes are not the only things customized on this vehicle. All of the original chrome detailing on the body of the Audi A8 was painted in a gunmetal finish to match the appearance of the wheels. This whole treatment seamlessly combines the elegance of the Audi with the concave profile of the c882 20” wheels.

Car Show Coverage: 2012 Dub Car Show: Anaheim... Part II

D7K_3546

This show was so nice that I had to hit you with some more photos. After Friday's post about the show, Dub released even MORE photos from the show. For a show that was "rained out", they had a great turnout. You know Southern Californians isn't really use to rain. Poor babies.
